What logging software are you running and how long are your transmissions? The problem appears to be heavily correlated with logging software that polls aggressively (or users that are trying to poll from multiple applications at the same time) and long transmissions. Essentially, the heavy polling over- runs the K3's control processor and eventually the garbled input generates a pathological command.
