In my opinion, no. The satellite days are over until AMSAT and the government can work out their ITAR differences. I don't have any desire to invest in any equipment for FM satellites.
For VHF/UHF contesting transverters are the operational choice. That said a 10M radio specifically designed for use with transverters I would like to see.
