Ouch! I hope you are able to recover your rig. Certainly, it's disappearance should be reported to local police.

Now.... someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but each rig has it's serial number as a menu item... and I'm assuming that there is no way for that to be changed... or easily changed. Clearly, at some point in the manufacturing process, a serial number is applied to the memory in the rig. Is that "burned-in".. or is it in some memory area that could be altered?

At the very least, Elecraft has the data record of the first buyer of each unit. I suggest it would be a good thing for anyone who sells his KX3 or K3 to inform Elecraft, to document the transfer of ownership.
