I don't know about the K1 but if you are going to replace the jack in your K2 you might consider wiring a separate headphone/speaker switch when you do so.
That's what I did with my K2. Now I can leave the headphones plugged in all the time and just switch the speaker on and off as I like. That is actually a lot more convenient than plugging and unplugging the headphones, which is a clumsy operation with these lightweight rigs. And of course it prevents further wear and tear on the delicate K2 jack. I mounted the switch on the back leftside panel in one of the unused transverter holes. If you want the details let me know and I'll try to find them.
