Phil,
The only reason to use matched filters is diversity mode reception. For
split operation, you want to have enough filtering to work your way
through the pileup to select your TX frequency. For many ops, that
means using a wider filter to find that proper TX slot, while others
prefer a more narrow filter.

So, what is the downside if this is not done. The main reason I am considering
the KRX3 is for DX split operation. I have no plans (now or likely in future)
for other specialized uses such as diversity reception.
