I don't' see the message here, but Jack, W6FB, e-mailed me off-list that the parasitic drain continues from the low-current supply as long as the KPA100 is installed. Only the PA transistors get current only from the high-current connector. That sounds like what you're saying Don.
I thought the whole KPA100 was isolated by the diodes when the only power was coming from the low-current 13 vdc connector on the K2. That's the value of posting to the list with everyone watching! Thanks for catching my error. Paul, The low power setting remains the same - when the KPA100 is not powered (but the base K2 is through a separate power supply), the QRP K2 will operate just the same as if the KPA100 is not attached, but if the KPA100 is powered on, th K2 power control will increment in steps of 0.5 watts instead of the 0.1 watt steps - up to the 10 watt level - the KPA100 kicks in at 11 watts and then the increment is in 1 watt steps. The receive current on my fully loaded K2 is 0.34 Amps with the KPA100 disconnected, increases to 0.44 to 0.46 amps with the KPA100 attached and not powered, and goes up to 0.50 Amps with the KPA100 powered on. The receive current does not vary with the power setting. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > I only have a QRP K2 but just would like to know what the min power a > K2/100 will run at with the power know turned down , > > and what current does it draw at low power compared to the barefoot > K2? > > _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
