Please don't get hung up over "tuning" vs "matching". The word "tune" in English is widely used to mean adjusting something to reach a desired condition. You use an antenna tuner to match impedances. You tune you car's engine to match factory specs.

To many of us "antenna" means the whole system including feedline. In that sense, "antenna tuner" is correct.

It's like tuning an amplifier. Again, you are "tuning" the output network to match impedances. Everyone knows what it means to "tune an amplifier".

Or would you rather say "Please standby while I match the output impedance of the tube in my amplifier to my antenna system"?
