Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Quick survey: Need a 0-dBm transverter
interface module for the KX3? (KXXV3)

David, I only expressed an interest in a product that Elecraft had mentioned as a possibility. I don't have the luxury of a K3 or K2 and the KX3. The KX3 is the perfect small rig for transverting to other bands or would be if the small internal interface was available as an option to go in the same space as the internal 2m transverter.

I may make one myself of I can get sufficient details from Elecraft.

David,

This has been on my to-do list but so far back on the list - well?

I can envision it small enough to enclosed in a DB9 backshell, though it would be easier on a small pcb & box. I saved some info on pcb interface transformers for the IQ baseband audio. To lower to -10 to +10 dBm range would involve a chip load resistor and small coupling cap with adjustable attenuator (two chip resistors and a small pot).

Would this be a 28-MHz IF or use the new 144-MHz module for interface? Switching would be needed to bypass in Rx

If not installing the 2m module there might be room inside but not sure the difficulty in making connections internally. Be easier to make small box to attach with velcro to back of KX3 with very small cables to normal connectors. 1/4-inch thick aluminum plate would likely serve as heat sink for 10w 50-ohm termination.

This would also serve those wanting to run a panadaptor or other sw on their computer.
