I just looked in my K3 and this is what i have:

i'm using a Signalink USB box for DATA A mode and i set the MIC to be LineIn.
The MIC+LIN option in that case displays Not Applicable.
When i switch to USB - the Mic input is switched to whatever i had it set to 
(rP.L in my case).
So it does remember Mic Input setting by Mode which is great, because i thought 
i'm gonna have to set it manually every time i wanna do PSK31.
