You shouldn't have to touch either tune button in normal operation.  After a 
tuner "training session", the ATU should follow the frequency of your K3, 
recalling memories without any button presses at all.  

Additional K3/KAT500 integration along the lines of your suggestion is "on the 
list", but we first implemented a frequency advisory message that makes manual 
button presses mostly unnecessary in normal operation.
