Do *NOT* plug the KUSB directly into the K2 AUX I/O connector. You must
use the intervening 'special cable' that is detailed in the KIO2
instructions. That cable can be short or long, but it must be installed
to protect the K2 from damage.
The AUX IO connector has internal K2 signals that are used for other
Elecraft accessories such as the KAT2 and XV series transverters.
The AUX IO is *not* an RS-232 port even though it contains 2 RS-232
signal lines.

I just installed the KIO2 serial port in my K2. When I ordered the KIO2, I also
ordered a KUSB USB-to-serial adapter cable. Is it safe to plug the KUSB cable
directly into the KIO2 port, or do I need to connect it via the DB9-DB9 serial
cable to ensure that only pins 2/3/5 are connected between the KIO2 and the
KUSB?
