Hello Gordon, I've been using the Heil HM-12 with my K3 (along with the Kenwood cable) for a couple of years, and it works great. It does not come with a base, although as I recall, it came with a foam windscreen as well as the appropriate mic holder that would screw onto the stem from a Heil base. Have never encountered any rf issues, and routinely receive unsolicited "great audio" comments.
