"The last bug" concept is countermanded by the superior law: "Nature abhors a vacuum". This of course means that when the "last bug" is fixed that firmware will self-morph under cover of darkness to produce another bug to fill the vacated space. If you have been keeping careful records on these issues you will recognize the pattern.
For some the trick is to ship when the new bug has some semblance of a feature, a process mastered by Microsoft in the 20th century. This led to the interesting procedure of using "maintenance" (a snooty word for "fixit") software to introduce new features, still widely practiced in the industry to this day. Firmware self-morph can sometimes be defeated by running high wattage grow lights 24/7 in program development areas. The usual resulting increase in developer insomnia is handled by company-issued sunglasses not to be taken out of the development area. 73, Guy On Mon, Aug 25, 2014 at 9:09 PM, Wayne Burdick <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi John, > > We're just now cleaning up "the last bug," which was a bit challenging. > Trust me, we're just as anxious to ship as everyone else is to receive. > > The manual was blessed today and should be posted soon. > > Wayne > > On Aug 25, 2014, at 6:05 PM, John_N1JM <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Anyone received notice of shipment outside of Field Testers? > > > > John N1JM > > > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[email protected] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Message delivered to [email protected] > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [email protected]
