In addition to the other suggestions you have received (assuming still no signal through the filter), you may want to try the filter in another slot. Early on, I had the same problem after installing a 250 Hz filter. the problem ended up being a coupling cap on the circuit board with no solder on one end. I was able to find it, and touch it up myself. Mine was a fairly early unit (s/n 559).
