Dave,
I suspect he is having problems with the Trnasmit Carrier Null. That procedure is normally done at the factory since it needs a spectrum analyzer to do it correctly. If he has access to a spectrum analyzer he should ask support to send the complete instructions. See page 34 in the manual.
