I found similar at GW0FRE. The kx3 HAD to have an external BPF but was still outperformed on the band by my IC706mkIIG which didn't need one. I now use the KX3 with a 30m IF Xverter which works fine

I will just have to create the relay logic for RX/TX but I have all the info and materials I need to do that. Interestingly enough, the RX seems "ok" down there but I have outboard filters in place. Sensitivity is down a bit but its not a show stopper, or it has not been so far. More real time evaluation is in order. thanks again for the clarification.
