As was mentioned, the software you want to use depends on what your plans are.

I've used Ham Radio Deluxe, and the DX Suite's Commander with the KX3 with no problems. I've also used some of the digital mode software that interfaces with both, WSJT-X for instance, and it works flawlessly.

What I like about the digital modes with the KX3, is all you really need is the connections from the KX3 to the computer, although I use an external USB sound card as it has a better audio frequency range, as well as providing feedback loop isolation.
