You did a beautiful job of integrating the T1 into your FT-817.

I would like to point out a much simpler alternative for others who may be thinking about doing this. If you drilled a few holes in the battery-compartment cover of the FT-817, you could leave the T1's display/switch board attached to the ATU. This would eliminate the ribbon cables and the small front panel box you used on top of the rig.

This might be seen as less convenient during operation, since you'd have to tilt the radio up to look at the T1's LEDs or press its switches. But most of this inconvenience goes away if you have the T1's FT-817 adapter cable. Once you've tuned up the antenna on all bands, you no longer need to see the T1's LEDs or push its switches when changing bands. The T1, via this adapter, automatically tracks the band changes at the rig.
