Howard,

you must not loose connection when putting the KAT500 in line! I use the same setup, i.e. K3 cabled to KAT500 cabled to KPA500 and have the cable between K3 and KAT500 modified to allow remote switch on of the KPA500. Just make sure you use a straight cable between the KAT500 and KPA500 and the modification will still work.
