No, the DSP is used for demodulation (15 KHz final IF to audio). The 6 KHz bandwidth is generally used for AM where 6 KHz at RF represents 3 KHz at audio (AM RF bandwidth = 2 x AF bandwidth). The 4.2 KHz maximum "HI" frequency is based on the design of the digital to analog converter and a decision that 4000 to 4500 Hz is the highest frequency required for communications quality audio.
