I use D4 as well.
It synch's on boot and every 15 minutes thereafter.
The longer you leave the computer on the more accurate the system clock.
I just checked and the last synch adjusted the system clock by .006 seconds. The computer rebooted three days ago.
That's plenty good enough for me.

I also use tick.nobs.navy.mil for several years (2003) with my xp32 machine using D4 (mainly for JT65 on eme). I have a frequent sync rate so time is rarely off more than 0.020s. Dimension-4 is freeware and easy to setup.

I tried some other NIST programs in the past returned to using D4. Its my belief that it is used by very many eme'rs so not sure where the comment by GIMHU came from that represented "most eme'rs having switched away from D4". I was never asked in any survey about what I am using.

Myself, I use tick.nobs.navy.mil with no problems at all. It's at the
US Naval Observatory and is one of the group used to determine NIST
time. My first engineering job was at the US Naval Research Laboratory
so I have a (misplaced ?) loyalty to NObs ! :)
