Hi Tom... What you need is a Customs and Border Protection Form 4457: "Certificate of Registration for Personal Effects Taken Abroad."
The fillable form and instructions are on CPB's web site: http://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/documents/CBP%20Form%204457_0.pdf In short, fill out the form...take the form and KX3 to the nearest customs office, have the gear inspected and the form signed by a Customs Officer. There doesn't seem to be an expiration date on the form. A group of us go to VP9 every year. I list my K3, P3, Mac Mini and Astron power supply. I don't think CPB or Bermudian Customs cares so much about my socks and tidy whities...but the radio stuff is a bit of a red flag. Oh, and well, duh...bring your license, too and put a copy in the box with your KX3.
