Hi All new Elecraft products will have the latest firmware in effect at the time. The upgrade is so people with older K2's can add the newest features if they want. In some cases when adding an option module an older K2 will require the upgrade to make the option function. Don't worry you will get the latest firmware included with your K2 and any options you may order at the same time.
