I've never tried this sort of thing, although some other keyers have an explictly selectable 'bug mode'. However, I doubt that it would sound like a real mechanical bug properly used. I think the rhythm that is so pleasing in good bug sending comes from the interaction of the sender's fingers with the massive lever swinging back and forth over a large distance and against strong spring tension (all of the above relative to a keyer paddle, of course). Bug sending is more than just manually made dashes.
