The firmware is up to date (MCU 2.34, DSP 1.33).

I have done a TX gain calibration and the SWR indicator is still reading as before.

I neglected to mention that the only additional board I have in the KX3 is the 
antenna tuner, I do not keep batteries in it, and the serial number is #150, so 
a rather early model.  I was unable to find anything in the KX3 manual about 
the SWR meter, but I recall seeing something posted on the reflector about it 
being pretty reliable.
