And then, you are on a ship in mid-ocean with the headphones on, it's
sometime in the 1990's or before, and you are copying a message in CW on
your mill (typewriter) when a lightning bolt blasts the mast next. 

There was a reason radio officers wore their headphones on their heads with
the earpieces in front of their ears, never directly over them.
