Never had a problem with Prolific parts - except for the end-of-life variants (HXA & XA) they removed from driver newer than v3.2. FTDI did the same thing for a pirated USB part.
Here is the solution, without the actual v3.2 driver. Seems Prolific doesn't want that made available. Today I opened the package. The instruction sheet is Revision A, dated October 8, 2007. The enclosed mini-CD was unreadable, so I plugged the KUSB into my Windows 10 PC and wondered what would happen. A driver was found but the entry in Device Manager showed the famous yellow triangle plus an error messge "The device cannot start (Code 10)".
