I agree with Vic - I want minimal AGC action, only kicking in on the strongest signals to keep the audio level below the ear's attenuation reflex (see http://n1eu.com/K3NA_rx_audio.pdf )
I have my threshold set at 14 (along with AF Gain at approx 9 o'clock and RF Gain adjusted so I can just hear band noise).
