Remember Vector's "wiring pencil?" <http://www.piclist.com/techref/pcbwires.htm> You used it to wire a breadboard with #32 enameled wire. Once you wrapped the wire around a pin, you applied a soldering iron and solder, which melted the enamel to allow a good solder joint.
I still have mine, and used it just a few weeks ago to wire an Arduino breadboard.
