A 1N5400 series would be OK for a barefoot K2. A 1N4000 series isn't big
enough.
If you just need to reduce voltage why not open up the power supply and
look for a voltage setting pot?

K2 from. I'd planned to install a diode in series with the+ve of the PSU, and

which I think will give me the required voltage drop, but just want to check
that these are OK (I note they are rated at 1A, and think I might need
something bigger ?).
