I've seen this as well in perhaps 1% or less of the Amphenol 83-1SPs that I've bought and installed. The symptom is that the height of the thread is shorter than it should be, and you can't screw it onto a mating connector. I first saw this 2-3 years ago, and haven't seen it since. Perhaps QC caught it.
