Hello Bill: Building is worth it if you enjoy assembling your equipment.
It is NOT worth it if you simply want to get your rig working immediately. Being in a rush is what results in the most issues with building. Allow 6 to 8 hours to do the job and only work when you are awake and feeling sharp. The end result is equivalent in all respects to a factory-built unit.
