Hi Carl, If your mic requires bias voltage, then when you go into the microphone selection menu on the K3S (tap Menu, then rotate VFO B to select "MIC SEL", then rotate VFO A to select the desired mic input jack(s) (you already did this step), THEN press the number "2" on the K3s front panel number keypad, which will alternately toggle the microphone bias voltage on and off.
This instruction is buried/hidden in the manual - it does NOT appear on the page where it should appear, i.e. where the MIC SEL menu option is explained. I was planning to make a documentation improvement suggestion to Elecraft at some point about this, but I didn't get around to it yet.
