I had an interesting issue using a USB keyboard on a P3 to send CW via a K3.
The CW characters were not reliable, depending on how long (time wise) the CW
character was. E always worked perfectly, but H was a problem. You could
press H multiple times, and sometimes you would get dit dit dit dit and other
times just dit dit, or dit dit dit.

The problem is a parameter in the P3. This had been working perfectly, but I
just upgraded all the firmware in the K3 and P3 recently. Somewhere in this
upgrade process, the parameter got wiped out.

To fix it:

a.. Plug in a SVGA monitor and USB keyboard into the P3.
b.. On the SVGA screen, you should have Ctrl-H Help K on the lower right
corner.
c.. Press Ctrl-Alt-S to enter settings menu.
d.. Press down arrow to put caret at >Transmit Timeout.
e.. Press the right arrow to increase this value to 1000.
f.. Press Esc to exit. You should see Saving Settings...
The problem should be fixed.

I spoke to the engineer at Elecraft, who said there is a firmware version
coming out to fix this.
