While we're on the subject of protection for the K3, back in the fall of 2007,
when we were asked to setup a display table for the newly released rigs (sn 008
& 021) for the Lebanon Hamfest and in a quandry as to how to transport them
safely, the late Tom Hammond (N0SS) came across military surplus night-vision
goggle cases that are just perfect for the K3. I see they are still available
for $25. At least the site is still active. I wouldn't drive an Abrams tank
over them, but they'll survive darn near anything less.
