Well put Fred. I was unable to find time for a QSO for almost a year and,
when I had a chance to get on the air I found I could not use my paddles!
Eventually I discovered that I had at some point changed the keyer to A mode
instead of B mode. I learned to squeeze using my homebrew accu-keyer in the
1970's which used B mode.

A great "plus" of the Ele-rigs is that I can set one up like I like it and
then ignore 90% of the menu. It never needs to change, just as I don't need
to change how I get dressed or brush my teeth. But, unlike rigs in the past,
we can make those changes and have exactly what we want -- assuming we know
what we want.

I am always amazed at how different we are as individuals. I have several
CW friends who think half-span is better than canned beer. For me, I just
get really confused by it. I'm an Iambic-A ham, others swear that B is the
only way. Actually, I never got Iambicized and I now use a single lever
key, but I couldn't send on a dual lever if it was on Iambic-B, unless
extraneous dits were good.

One of the things I really like about my K3 is that it has so many ways to
configure things. I've gotten the TX EQ to the point where I get
unsolicited "Great audio" comments in the rare times I step into the phone
bands, and the RX EQ to where I can sort of understand SSB.

One of the things I really dislike about my K3 is that it has so many ways
to configure things, I run out of configuring time. ]:-)
