The Tx drifted so badly, that during my first novice qso, the other station said he chased me through three other qso's. I don't think 'three' was an exaggeration. I made a crystal calibrator to help me check the receiver's dial accuracy, and keep me within my allocation. I didn't know what the cw sounded like, but no pink tickets. We've come a long way.
