Hi Ken: The fan should be drawing air IN, not blowing it out. Is it oriented correctly (label out) and wired correctly?
Normally the K2/100 at full 100 watts out for a long time before the temperature gets too high. I did some thermal testing some years ago that had a brick on the key up to half an hour at a time. Did you carefully set the transmit bias current as described in the assy manual? See page 51 of the current (Rev H2) manual.
