I've seem some information about use of an "Easy Digi" device http://www.ebay.com/itm/EASY-DIGI-UV-5R-INTERFACE-for-IPhone-IPad-IPod-Touch-/321221531105 and plan to give it a try. There are a few YouTube videos. It's on order.
