Apple has dropped audio input on current Retina MacBookPro products.  I’m not 
sure when that transition took place, and am too lazy too look :-)

There are inexpensive USB audio modules that will support both input and output 
and perhaps save you some hassle.  It’s worth checking out this link if you 
don’t have a retina MacBook Pro … it may still work:
