Please note, in the first picture, L1 and L2 are supposed to look the same. I didn't notice this until I looked at the picture! The rest of my kx1 can be seen here: http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/ppike/kx1.html -------------------------- Wait Paul! Don't be in a hurry to adjust those turns! They only look the same when you first wind the toroids. If you adjusted the turns as described in the next-to-last step on page 17 of the manual, they may well need to look like that. That step advises you to adjust the green turns on those toroids as needed to get the best results on 40 and 20. Remember that 20 should be 1/4 to maybe 1/2 watt below 40 meters. If it's more than that, you adjust the green turns to bring 20 up. What you ended up with isn't uncommon at all. Yes, it's possible to balance the power on 40 and 20, but for proper harmonic rejection the 20 meter band should be on the edge of the bandpass characteristic. That's why 20 should be a little below 40. Many KX1s with the KXB30 or KXB8030 show a decided peak in output at 30 meters that is above either 40 or 20. Nice looking installation there in a very nicely-built KX1!! Isn't that white Kynar hookup wire neat stuff to use in small spaces like that?
