I also recommend gMFSK. To get the rig control features you will
also need to install hamlib.
The most comprehensive list of amateur radio apps for Linux (with
links to the software) can be found at <http://radio.linux.org.au>.
Debian and Ubuntu (or Kubuntu for KDE) have probably the most ham
software already packaged if you are hesitant to compile it
yourself. Ubuntu will even send CDs at no cost
<https://shipit.ubuntu.com>.
