It might be worth asking for an RF exposure limit, then doing the station evaluation worksheet from the FCC.
Links to worksheet here: http://www.arrl.org/rf-exposure From the Medtronic patient letter (I’d get an official, current one for your model of pacemaker, of course): Maintain a distance of at least 6 inches between your heart device and: ♦ Antennas of cellular phones, amateur radios, ham radios, walkie talkies of 3 watts or less. Maintain a distance of at least 12 inches between your heart device and: ♦ Antennas of amateur radios, ham radios, marine radios, walkie talkies, citizens band (CB), of 3-15 watts Maintain a distance of at least 2 feet between your heart device and: ♦ Antennas of amateur radios, ham radios, marine radios, walkie talkies of 15-30 watts Maintain a distance of at least 3 feet between your heart device and: ♦ Antennas of commercial and government dispatch radio equipment of 30-50 watts Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet between your heart device and: ♦ Antennas of commercial and government dispatch radio equipment of 50-125 watts http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Technology/Pacemaker/EMC%20Worksite%20Letter.pdf “Stay away from RF” isn’t very useful advice in a world full of wi-fi and cell phones. ARRL has info on pacemakers and RF exposure, including specs from Medtronic. http://www.arrl.org/pacemaker FCC FAQ on pacemakers and cell phones: https://www.fcc.gov/engineering-technology/electromagnetic-compatibility-division/radio-frequency-safety/faq/rf-safety#Q22 wunder K6WRU Walter Underwood CM87wj http://observer.wunderwood.org/ (my blog) > On Jan 4, 2018, at 8:40 AM, John Lemay <[email protected]> > wrote: > > Tim > > Hope you make a full and speedy recovery. > > It is your aerial which radiates your transmitted signal - therefore > operating the radio from a different room is unlikely to help you, it might > even put you in a higher RF field. > > However, if you are able to use the internet to remotely operate a friends > radio across town, that could be a way forward. > > John G4ZTR > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of KQ8M > Sent: Thursday, January 4, 2018 15:34 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [Elecraft] OT: Pigremote availability > > I see the Pigremote is out of stock.
