My '06 QRPTTF start time was foiled by last minute manditory meeting.
Finally at 3PM I was faced with pack up gear & goats and head for the
hills (~2-3hrs to launch RF) OR stay home and set up outside (~20m to
launch RF!) Doh!

So me and 'boys' setup shop at base of my tower. The boys (goats)
milled about chewing down the weeds while I made a few Qs. KX1 was
acting goofy so I switched to the K1. Dropped power to < 200mWs for
fun. Seeing I had the beam advantage I thought it only appropriate to
stay under a watt. Boys paid me no mind until Peanut started chewing
on the feedline - squirt bottle to the rescue saved several Qs! (goats
hate water! grin)

Cndx mixed. Slow QSB meant you had to work fast to get the exchange or
loose em! Hey, not bad for "dead band cndx" though! Work S&P first
then CQ TTF:
[20m beam @ ~40']
WA6GER lost to QSB
K7SS loud! WA
K7TQ also loud! Randy/ID
KD5MJJ CO?
N6JW CA
WA6GER completed Q! CA
K4KPJ FL
K6BBQ CA
NK6A CA
WA5ZNU CA
W1FMR/P loud! NH
WA7WW WA
AA6AV CA

Put the boys back in their pen and switched to 40m only to hear heavy
QRN and weak sigs. ...storm clouds approaching over the mtns:
[40m half-slooper @ ~40'] worked S&P only:
WD7Y NV
NU0P IA
K7TO ID
(Sorry no pics - wife had camera on her adventure)

Although we didn't get to hike we still had some TTF fun and exercised
the rigs!
More Qs from trail coming soon, n0tu/Steve & goats (Rooster & Peanut)
