Hi Ray, Thanks for your suggestions! I have been lucky for 9 years with my 2009 iMac, but this year was the year to upgrade. It does look like the KAT500 Utility could use a bit of updating, and it is very weird that it got stuck looking for a USB-serial driver and couldn't be restarted or interrupted. Hopefully, Elecraft might take a look at this issue, in case it happens again. Many thanks again for your help!
