A "swish noise with no audio" sounds exactly like what my factory installed sub rx sounded like in diversity mode. Turned out the associated VFO cable was pluggined into the wrong port on the one of the vertical boards behind the front panel. There are two VFO sources (one for independent VFO, one for a second drop of the primary VFO). Check the wiring.
