Thanks for eveyones help I forgot to say that I am using an Astron 35 amp, 13.8 volt supply.
Anyway, I found the problem to be a defective U7 on the control board. Nothing easy like a bad solder problem Have to return to a normal life now utill I can get a new IC replacement.
