It appears that I got a defective cable from Elecraft. There's a first time for everything. I was using the single cable from the P3 to the K3S. When I swapped it for the double connected P3 to K3S cable, it worked. This after an hour of reloading firmware, plugging and unplugging...and finally rereading the P3 manual troubleshooting section. You'd think after 22 years of being a tech writer, RTFM would have been the first step. Thanks to those who replied. 73 Eric WD6DBM
