I prefer a sawzall to rendering a window inoperable. I use a Peco TF115-001 (about $30) wired to a portable oil filled electric heater on low. Thermostat set to 55F is enough so gear isn't cold enough to form condensation as outside temps warm in the morning. I'm in coastal N California, so cooling not required in the shack.
