Bill, Are you looking at the K2 MCU firmware or the KAT100 firmware? The KAT100 firmware currently is 1.05, and the 1.04 should work OK.
If you looked at the K2 firmware (hold any button while powering on and it will be briefly displayed), then the level to support the KAT100 must be 2.03d or above.
